In 2004 it was available in the states, but only about 5000 were imported. Originally, VW was not going to introduce the R32 to America, but after many requests it was headed to the states.

The original base price in 2004 was $29,675 and went up with the upgrades. The R32 is manufactured in Bratislava, Slovakia right along side the Porsche Cayenne and VW Touareg. The resale value of the R32 is around $10,685.00, this of coarse is based on good condition and normal mileage of only 12k to 15k driven each year of it’s life.

The Volkswagen R32 has a 3.2 liter VR6 engine with 240hp. It comes with a six speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive (first of this size of car). The R32 gets about 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

It includes auto climate control, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, monsoon audio system with a CD, power sunroof, and 18 inch O.Z. Aristo wheels. Other upgrades were available that included leather, leather trim, and more. The R32’s came in four body colors: Black Magic, Deep Blue, Reflex Silver, and Tornado Red.
